The following is an article from www.channelnewsasia.com by Margaret Perry

S$9.5m raised so far by TV charity show to help Sichuan quake victims

SINGAPORE: More than S$9.5 million has been raised so far for the Sichuan earthquake victims from a TV charity show, telecast on Sunday night, on MediaCorp's Channel 8.

Images of devastation and grief touched thousands of viewers who called in to donate money to rebuild the shattered communities.

The money will be channelled to welfare and education programmes as well as rebuilding efforts, which will include hospitals, schools and orphanages for these children.

More than 100 local and overseas artistes took part in the show, which organisers took less than a week to put together.

Members of the SCDF's Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team shared some of their stories of sadness and hope from their five-day mission to the area.

The show will be repeated this Sunday on Channel 8 at 3.30pm.

The public can still make their donation through the following hotlines:
1900-112-5121 - for donations of S$6
1900-112-5122 - for donations of S$18
1900-112-5123 - for donations of S$50

The donation hotlines will remain open till June 1.

Those who wish to make a donation above S$50 can issue a cheque made payable to "Sichuan Earthquake Relief Fund - Chinese Embassy" and mail it to Choa Chu Kang Branch PO Box 86, Singapore 916833.

http://www.redcross.org.sg/

无情的灾害,让人束手无策
人间永远需要多一些温情

说话的时候,善良一点
待人的时候,真诚一点
处事的时候,正面一点

在我们能力范围内,为世界增添多一些温情。

decision

i have decided that one of the most wonderful feelings in this world is the lightness that makes you fly after a heavy weight's been lifted off your shoulders.

like after an exam.
like after work.
like after telling the truth.
like escaping the suffocating company of unlikable people.
like finding something you thought was lost.

any more ideas? feel free to add on.

p.s. with regards to my previous post, thank you all for your concern. i'm not depressed or anything...sometimes, i do like to dwell on melancholy - it makes life poignantly beautiful.

i think it's sort of like an addiction.

to see, feel and appreciate the quiet sorrows of life, and then go on to savour, to a greater extent, happiness.

U2 - stuck in a moment

i think you know how
sometimes
a certain song from a certain time
inadvertently comes back and speaks to you
overwhelms you with emotions so strong
you can't help but fall in love with it
and then it just doesn't go away
for quite a while

"Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of" is a single release from U2's 2000 album, All That You Can't Leave Behind. It has gospel-tinged melodies and saccharine guitar leads. It won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 2002.
U2's lead singer Bono wrote the song about the suicide of his close friend Michael Hutchence, the late lead singer of the band INXS. The song is written in the form of an argument about suicide in which Bono tries to convince Hutchence of the act's foolishness.
Bono characterized the song as a fight between friends, which he felt guilty for never having with Hutchence. "It's a row between mates. You're kinda trying to wake them up out of an idea. In my case it's a row I didn't have while he was alive. I feel the biggest respect I could pay to him was not to write some stupid soppy f**king song, so I wrote a really tough, nasty little number, slapping him around the head. And I'm sorry, but that's how it came out of me." --Bono, in Rolling Stone (November 3, 2005 issue).

I'm not afraid
Of anything in this world
There's nothing you can throw at me
That I haven't already heard
I'm just trying to find
A decent melody
A song that I can sing
In my own company

I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you. Ooh.
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
'Cause tears are going nowhere baby

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

I will not forsake
The colors that you bring
The nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted
By the light you brought to me
I listen through your ears
Through your eyes I can see

You are such a fool
To worry like you do.. Oh
I know it's tough
And you can never get enough
Of what you don't really need now
My, oh my

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it
Oh love, look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it
Oh lord look at you now
You've got yourself stuck in a moment
And you cant gt out of it

I was unconscious, half asleep
The water is warm 'til you discover how deep
I wasn't jumping, for me it was a fall
It's a long way down to nothing at all

You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better
Now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it

And if the night runs over
And if the day won't last
And if your way should falter
Along this stony pass

It's just a moment
This time will pass
