startin e new year...on a b*tchin note

haha. this is gonna be fun. (if u're into gossip girl, this is blair waldorf posting)

ok. was looking for a snack just now, and found a green box of japanese cookies sitting on my table. oh, i remember, that's a christmas present from Ms Budget. ok, looks attractive enough to me, let's see how good it tastes.

just as i was about to tear the box open, i noticed something...

from my knowledge of japanese date format, 09.01.03 means jan 3rd 09. which means, it has expired.

wasn't this a christmas present from 08? so...Ms Budget actually allowed me...25th, 26th, 27th, 28th...oh, 10 whole days to enjoy my cookies before it expired! aww. what a waste. she actually gave me more time this year! christmas last year, she gave me a packet of sweets with a note on it that said, "eat now for good luck!". found the note kinda interesting but didn't quite understand the urgent tone, until someone told me that the sweets were due to expire 4 days after christmas. so 10 days this year was considered a bonus! at least i could've enjoyed them in the new year! now i almost feel bad about giving her a skin care travel kit from C&E...

i take pride in buying nice presents for others, esp during christmas coz it's my favourite time of the year. so it irks me that some people can just treat present exchange as a chance to dump near expiry goods or unwanted old stuff on others. yes, i understand the concept of re-gifting, but if you really wanna re-gift, please do it in good taste and style. esp when you have a considerable income and status like Ms Budget.

Ms Budget, if u or any of your friends actually read my blog, i'll never understand why you do what you do, but i do know i'd respect u a little more if you gave me nothing. Please, save on your present for me this year. i'm not a rubbish dump.

oh my gosh. this felt so good! ;)

Hey peifen, gift is the thought that matter, not the present itself rite?

woohoo!! exciting. wat a way to start the year.

to anon, precisely. but i think it says even more about ms budget to give expired food. it's not just "no thoughts" but "nonchalant, evil, i-cant-be-bothered thought".

I think 6:59pm quite right...

that means Ms budget got the thought to let u all get stomachache!

I'm a air steward, for what i know Jap tibits don expire so fast one, ohh... she must have bought it quite long ago...

since ms budget don't have the thoughts to give people present then don't give. who wants tibits that expire 10 days later and that's not the 1st time some more...

Peifen, I understand where u r coming from as some of my "used to be friends" are treating me the same way as ms budget is treating u now.

My advice is just treat them as an acquaintance. Better still, just don't regard them as ur fren.

Wah really an interesting way to start a new year :p For me, the kind of gift u give to the person reflects how much u care about the person. Like for myself, I gave my best friend a DIY table lamp for xmas. though it's not expensive or super nice but at least i made it with my own hands and creativity and it's one of a kind. Present giving is a happy occasion not just to the receiver but the giver as well and i do wish that more people can appreciate the happiness of giving :)

That Ms Budget is not sincere in the gift exchange at all... so a tooth for a tooth la, peifen! Give her a taste of her own medicine, and I supposed she will understand "the concept of re-gifting" liao!=)

Anyway can vist my blog for the 2minute movie preview "The Wedding Game" featuring Fann Wong & Christopher Lee!

Have a nice day, peifen!=)

sometimes is alright to bitch about tinks that we really can't take it .. cannot simply kip it inside right? .. good to let it out right? ..

this ms budget also not first in the world ba .. i tink got more around .. some even gave used things just by rewrapping ..
-_-.. Only haven't bong into them .. better not oso .. =X

i agreed what you said, better don't give, at least you will respect her, give something like this really make people disrespect her ..

sometimes we do get to open our eyes real big by people like them .. and their acts .. to see the different side of the world ..

Heya, just my 2 cents' worth of thought.
Most of Japanese food actually has short consuming period because part of their culture is that Japanese emphasizes alot on the quality of food and they believe that the freshness will not sustain long if the food has long consuming period.

So it's kind of normal that they carry expiry dates after 7, 10 or 14-days. And you will find such practice on its famous food like the Momiji manju from Miyajima,Tokyo banana from Tokyo.

I guess your friend should have let you know that the food has short consuming period when she passed you the food to avoid misunderstandings. :)

short as they may be, most of the products i see in japan have expiry dates 3 mths minimum. which will give any consumer ample time to finish. ;)

Oh no... after reading your post and noting the Japanese date format, I just realised the Tokyo banana cakes I discarded may not have expired yet! Argh! Then again, like what one of the anonymous msgers said, Japanese snacks have short shelf life and I bought the Tokyo bananas in Dec =) It's ok to bitch sometimes PF... we're only human! We can't be tolerant 100% of the time right? ;)

My family received a set of mouldy cups from a relative for our housewarming recently. It was wrapped nicely but when we unwrapped... haiz. A lot of evil ppl out there.
