fa la la la la la la la la

Happy Christmas Eve!

made a little observation while shopping for presents...

the people who are supposed to do christmas shopping, i.e. grown-ups, many do not actually enjoy / want to do it. the crowd, the noise, the frenzy...and the fact that we're all on a budget but have an endless list (if u buy for one colleague then u better buy for all), doesn't really make gift shopping an easy task.

on the other hand, the people who don't need to do christmas shopping, i.e. babies, have the best time on such trips. one, they don't even need to walk, because they can't (toddlers not included). two, they are comfortably snuggled up in a pretty pram, sleeping or waking as and when they want to. three, if an adult is feeling peckish (for example, the husband), other adults (for example, the wife) still has a right to keep shopping and ignore the hungry individual's request to break for food. but if a baby wants to eat, then there's no other way. the whole shopping cohort simply HAS to halt all action and immediately feed the bundle of joy, or in this case, a relentless, uncompromising, wailing bundle of not-too-much joy.

being a baby: a once-in-a-lifetime privilege. being a baby when you're not supposed to already: a nuisance. (i sound like a mastercard ad.)

----------------------------------------------------

oh! i caught The Beach starring Leonardo Dicaprio on TV. cool. have heard so much about the movie and always wanted to watch it but never actually got down to it. (another such movie is Forrest Gump. yes, "GASP*! i've never watched Forrest Gump) switched the telebee on and viola! just in time for opening credits. nice. feels exactly like when u unexpectedly find a two dollar note in the pocket of those jeans u've not worn for the longest time.

but, after going online to search for info about the movie and finding out that there was a lawsuit regarding damage to the beach due to landscaping and bulldozing by movie producers, not so cool after all.

---------------------------------------------------

there're some moments in life when u are totally comfortable with your surroundings, your mind is not on anything nor nothing, you are just content and at ease. i'm experiencing such a moment while keying this entry in my bedroom. and i'm grateful for it. beautiful.

speaking of beauty, here's a quote about beauty from <浪漫的逃亡> by 五月天阿信:

"美,是对抗世界不停蹦毁的自然定律、是费尽心思挽留定格感动的无尽追求。美,是心思被触动的渺小一瞬、是人类脱离兽性的痛苦过程。“

nice.
